Come relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Christmas in the most impressive concert hall of the Municipal House – the Smetana Hall. Enjoy some of the most beautiful classical music melodies by the world's greatest composers, performed by the Bedřich Smetana Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Jaroslav Vodňanský. The orchestra, comprising 42 members, accompanies the angelic mezzo-soprano of the soloist Martina Bauerová. This unique 90-minute concert with no interval is not to be missed during the Christmas time.
Martina Bauerová studied singing at the Prague Conservatoire. For many years she performed as a soloist of the National Theatre of Prague. She was active as a guest artist at Teatra Nacionál de S.Carlos (Lisabon), Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catánie- Sicílie) or the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (London) among others. She co-operated with the BBC Symphonic Orchestra, London on numerous occasions. She currently performs as a concert soloist and a music teacher.
The Municipal House is one of the most important Art Nouveau buildings in Prague. It is located on Republic Square, a short walk from the Powder Tower opposite the Hybernia Theatre. It is mainly used for representation purposes and cultural events, especially concerts and exhibitions.
