The concert takes place in the Church of St. Martin in the Wall. A beautiful programme by a string quartet composed of the leading Czech orchestras’ members. Captivating concerts in the intimate setting of the Church of St. Martin create a truly unique atmosphere as the church is located in an unusual place, a little hidden and aside the busy streets. The hall is heated and has excellent acoustics. The concert performed by the string quartet will surely impress you with their beautiful rendition of the world-famous classical pieces. All members of the quartet come from musical families, musical feeling thus runs in their blood. In particular, Jitka Balková represents the fourth generation of Czech musicians carrying the family’s musical legacy. The duration of the concert is approximately one hour.

The Church of St. Martin in the Wall is located near Narodní trida and has been preserved as an almost intact work of the Middle Ages - a rare example of valuable Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It was built in the twelfth century in the village of Ujezd, which became known as the Ujezd of St. Martin. The church acquired its current name in the thirteenth century, when King Wenceslas I enlarged the castle and then surrounded it with a castle wall. The wall divided Újezd into two parts, the inner one became part of the Old Town of Prague. The greater part of Újezd remained behind the walls and was destroyed by the construction of the New Town under Charles IV. The south wall of the church became part of the city wall - hence the name Church of St. Martin in the Wall. As it was common, the church was surrounded by a school and a cemetery which has a connection to one of the Prague´s legends.
There are few places in the Czech Lands as sacred as St. George's Basilica at Prague Castle. It is one of the oldest churches in our country, a burial site of the rulers from Premyslid dynasty, the pearl of Prague Castle.
